Hastings Insurance officially launch sponsorship of Hastings Insurance MacHale Park
As Mayo and Galway fans prepare to visit Hastings Insurance MacHale park this Sunday for the much anticipated Connacht Championship quarter final between the old rivals, Hastings Insurance has released a video to celebrate the long history of one of Irish sport’s most famous venues.
The video features lifelong Mayo fan Francie Maloney from Kiltimagh who attended Mayo’s last All-Ireland final victory as a seventeen year old in 1951 and has attended countless games supporting the Green and Red in the decades since. Also featured in the video are supporters who travel by bus to Mayo matches alongside Francie as well as staff from the Castlebar headquarters of Hastings Insurance.
In 2021 it was announced that Hastings Insurance had agreed a naming rights partnership with Mayo GAA that sees the home of Mayo GAA renamed Hastings Insurance MacHale Park and the sponsorship was officially launched today at a special event attended by Mayo footballers Jordan Flynn, Sinead Cafferkey, Kathryn Sullivan and Brendan Harrison.
Paul McDermott, Managing Director of Hastings Insurance Brokers, said: “As a family-owned business steeped in the GAA, and the wider Mayo community for decades, we are thrilled to officially launch this partnership with Mayo GAA. Hastings has been a long-standing supporter of Mayo GAA and this sponsorship deal is our way of helping the efforts of all players and management teams that represent Mayo to continue to thrive in the years to come.”
Seamus Touhy, Cathaoirleach of Mayo GAA, said: "Hastings Insurance is a well-known and reputable local company and Mayo GAA is delighted to welcome them officially as the new title sponsor at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park. Everyone associated with Mayo GAA is looking forward to working with Hastings Insurance for many years to come. Mayo GAA has a bright future with excellent work being done at Bord na nÓg and in our schools and in all our GAA clubs. This new exciting sponsorship with Hastings Insurance will allow for further investment in our games and infrastructure. MacHale Park has a wonderful history having originally been named after Archbishop of Tuam John MacHale (1831 to 1881) and the hallowed turf has been home to club and county GAA matches in Mayo since 1931. Hastings Insurance MacHale Park now ranks with the best in the country with a state-of-the-art new playing surface that has been realigned, drained and lengthened. We have a 10,000 seater stand, new dressing rooms, offices, gym facilities, flood lighting and training facilities now all on one site. I am really looking forward to welcoming all our supporters back to Hastings Insurance MacHale Park this weekend for the opening round of the Connacht GAA Football championship,”
